Shenzhen Metro serves as the backbone of the city's urban transit. By the end of 2025, its network spanned 634.5 km with a density of 0.32 km/km², ranking first in China. In 2025, the system recorded a daily ridership exceeding 9 million (peaking over 11 million), capturing a 77.5% share of public transit usage.
Currently, Shenzhen Metro is advancing the construction of 11 new lines, marking the full commencement of its 5th Phase construction plan. In terms of regional integration, the city is actively planning cross-border links to Dongguan and Huizhou. Notably, preliminary studies for the Line 14 East Extension (Huizhou Section) have already been launched by Huizhou authorities. The network is projected to exceed 840 km by around 2030.
