Guangzhou Metro serves the city and its surrounding regions as a major urban rail transit system. As of February 2026, it operates 19 lines with 397 stations across 779.9 km, ranking 3rd in China. In 2025, the network recorded a daily ridership of 9.312 million.
Currently, there are 8 sections and extensions under construction, including Line 8 (East Extension, North Extension, and Branch), Line 10 (Remaining Section), Line 12 (Central Section), Line 13 Phase 2 (West Section), Line 14 Phase 2 (Remaining Section), and Line 18 (Remaining Section). Notably, the Central Section of Line 12 and the West Section of Line 13 Phase 2 are scheduled to open in 2026, which will push the total network length beyond 800 km.
