Xi'an Metro Line 1 serves as the backbone of the region's rail transit network, linking Xi'an and Xianyang. Spanning 42.1 km with 30 underground stations, the line is distinguished by its blue branding. Its development unfolded in three phases: Phase I opened in September 2013, Phase II in September 2019, and Phase III (Fenghe Forest Park to Xianyang West Railway Station) commenced operations on September 21, 2023. This expansion marked a milestone as the first metro line in Northwest China to connect the main urban districts of two cities.
As a flagship route for Xi-Xian integration, Line 1 facilitates rapid commuting between the twin cities. Beyond its transport function, the line is culturally distinct; Phase III stations incorporate Qin Dynasty architectural elements, and Xianyang West Station features the "Looking Back at 2,000 Years of Qin Capital" cultural exhibition, seamlessly blending modern transit with historical heritage.
