As the largest and busiest high-speed rail hub in South China, Guangzhou South Railway Station is famously known as the "Universe's No. 1 Station."
During the 2026 Spring Festival travel rush (Feb 2 – Mar 13), the station handled a record-breaking 21.83 million passenger trips, averaging 545,700 daily—a 4.21% year-on-year increase. This included 10.96 million departures and 10.86 million arrivals. The station also set a new operational record, running up to 1,210 trains in a single day and adding 2,066 overnight services to popular destinations like Chongqing, Chengdu, and Guiyang.
Spanning a total area of 615,000 square meters, the station features 15 platforms and 28 tracks. It serves as a core railway hub for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, connecting major national arteries including the Beijing-Guangzhou, Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong, Guiyang-Guangzhou, and Nanning-Guangzhou high-speed railways.
