As a vital aerial gateway and regional hub for the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP), Sanya Phoenix International Airport achieved a historic milestone in 2025 with 22.69 million passengers, a record high since its inauguration. International traffic surged by 45.1% to 932,900 passengers. The airport now operates 42 international routes connecting 32 overseas destinations across Central Asia, Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, and Europe. Notably, the successful launch of the Sanya-Braga route—China's first "Seventh Freedom of the Air" passenger service—marks a new era of openness for the Hainan FTP. Moving forward, the airport is poised to leverage the FTP customs closure to further enhance its capacity and global connectivity.
